These 2 sites are a con ehic.uk.com and ehiconline.org, stay away from them they will charge your almost £10 for nothing…
Ehic is a free service for a European Health Insurance Card, which will cover you if you are ill abroad in the EU. You can also apply by phone on 0845 606 2030. It’s not a replacement for good travel insurance..
However be aware that this website:
- ehiconline.org is the same con site as the ehic-uk.com
- http://www.ehic.uk.com will charge you £9.95 for something that is ABSOLUTELY free.
- Take a good look and avoid – >>> http://www.ehic.uk.com/ – EHIC.UK.COM – <<<<
- They claim that for £9.95 they will submit your ehic form..
This is a complete farce, so do not be conned and avoid ehic.uk.com..
Free EHIC – European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
If you’re going on a holiday or a business trip, you should apply for a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which offers you access to reduced-cost medical treatment.
Applying for an EHIC
There are several ways to apply for a free EHIC but the quickest way is to apply online through the Department of Health’s official website. Your card will normally arrive within seven days. You can also apply by phone on 0845 606 2030 or by post using an application form available from some post offices.
Your application can be just for yourself or you can apply on behalf of your partner and any dependent children in full-time education under the age of 19. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian will need to apply for you. Boarding school teaching staff can also apply on behalf of any children in their care.
Each person you’re applying for will need to provide his or her:
- full name,
- date of birth, and
National Insurance or NHS number (CHI in Scotland or Health and Care Number in Northern Ireland).
You can also apply by post if you are not an EU national but this takes a little bit longer
