This stupendous dose of wet summer weather, is have a negative impact on UK holidays. It should come as no surprise that the hint of potential sunshine will stimulate demand.
Hoseasons is hoping that reports of better weather starting next week will “unleash a tidal wave of pent up demand”.
The domestic operator said there is still late availability for domestic holidays at the start of the school holidays.
“Traditionally once the schools break up, the travel industry starts promoting autumn breaks,” “But this year we have seen incredibly late booking, and we believe there are still plenty of families who intend to take a break over the school holiday, but who haven’t booked yet.”
According to Hoseasons, reports from MeteoGroup, the Press Association’s weather division, suggest that the Jet Stream is set to move, meaning more normal summer weather for August.
“There is a tidal wave of pent-up demand which could be unleashed if these reports turn out to be justified and the sun comes out,”
I think you’re right. Down here in Cornwall, bookings have been very slow, but now the weather has finally turned and school holidays are starting, things are picking up, and the traffic is getting nasty. (Always a sure sign of holidaymakers!). I’ve just booked my family a north Cornwall break for next week. So I have fingers crossed that the weather holds out!
